Cattedrale di San Pardo a Larino
Molise
The cathedral of Larino, or co-cathedral basilica of Santa Maria Assunta and San Pardo, is one of the most important works of art of the Romanesque style in southern Italy. The foundation of the church dates back to the thirteenth century, built on a pre-existing temple, on the entrance portal a plaque shows the date of its consecration, July 30, 1319. Towards the end of the eleventh century had already existed a church dedicated to the Holy Bishop of Larino, which was located in a district outside the town, as attested by an act of donation made (of 1081) by such Luffrido, Priest of Larino, in favor of the Monastery of San Giovanni in Venere. In this act were included some lands and small churches built near the church dedicated to it.

Chiesa di Santa Maria della Strada a Matrice
Molise
Legend has it that only seven churches have survived over the centuries: those of Santa Maria di Monteverde, Maria Santissima Assunta di Ferrazzano, San Leonardo di Campobasso, Santa Maria di Cercemaggiore, Santa Maria della Strada di Matrice and the cathedral of Volturara Appula, while the name of the seventh remains obscure. The origins of the church, in honour of the Madonna, are linked to the period when the feud of Matrice was ruled by Roberto Valerio and it seems that he himself donated the land on which the monument stands. The construction of the church can be dated around 1100, and it was consecrated in 1148 by Archbishop Pietro and bishops Giovanni di Volturara, Raimondo di Cividale and Roberto di Bojano.

Santuario della Madonna di Bisaccia in Montenero di Bisaccia
Molise
The Sanctuary of the Madonna di Bisaccia is about 1 km from the centre of Montenero di Bisaccia, situated on a hill and close to the Tratturo Centurelle - Montesecco, a derivation of the Reale Tratturo L'Aquila - Foggia. It dates back to 1200, and besides being a place of worship to which the inhabitants of Montenero are most attached, it is also the destination of many pilgrimages coming not only from Molise but also from Abruzzo and Puglia. The Sanctuary of the Madonna di Bisaccia was built on the ruins of an earlier chapel destroyed by various earthquakes. Originally, the central plan dates back to 1811, while the side aisles were added in 1840.

Cattedrale di Trivento
Molise
The Cathedral stands on the highest and oldest part of the town, and is also home to important historical and cultural buildings. It houses the administrative offices of the municipality, the ancient castle (known as the Colaneri palace) and, attached to the cathedral, the Curia building and the Episcopal seminary. Catholic life in Trivento is based in the oldest diocese in Molise, and the municipality has been an episcopal seat since the early Christian era. The cathedral church is dedicated to the patron saints Nazarius, Celsus and Victor: according to tradition, the relics of the martyr saints Nazarius and Celsus were donated by Saint Ambrose to the local church in 398. In 1726, the pope and martyr Saint Victor was also added to the two Milanese martyrs. Together with the cathedral's owners, Saint Casto, Trivento's legendary first bishop, is co-patron of the diocese.

Grotta di San Michele a Sant'Angelo in Grotte
Molise
The sanctuary dates back to 1200 and is located in Sant'Angelo in Grotte, a hamlet of Santa Maria del Molise. On the perimeter of the old church, a single-nave church was rebuilt from scratch. The walls of the cave were restored and enlarged in 1890 with the contribution of emigrants to the USA. Inside, there is a charming cave with a spring of blessed water. There is a legend attached to this place: "Saint Michael chose this place as his earthly home. Fascinated by the beauty of the place, but disappointed by the behaviour of the inhabitants, one day he walked through a crevice in the rock and from there took flight for the place that is still called Monte Sant'Angelo".

Eremo S. Amico San Pietro Avellana
Molise
Situated at an altitude of 960 metres above sea level, the hermitage stands, according to legend, on the site where the Saint's body was found.
In the 13th century, immediately after the death of Sant'Amico, the first construction of the sanctuary took place. In 1623, Abbot Bernardino de Saavedra officially recognised the discovery of the body of St. Amadeus, thus giving rise to the church's official cult. The church dates back to the middle of the 17th century. It has a Greek cross plan and the presbytery is surmounted by a dome.
