Faeto is a small village in the Monti Dauni of about 600 inhabitants. It constitutes, together with Celle San Vito, the only Franco-Provençal minority in southern Italy.

The Natural Area of Lorda Torrent which is more suitable for excursion activities is the part included between Sant'Agapito and Longano, a canyon which develops for more than three kilometers and for a total surface of about 70 hectares. Along the torrent Lorda the waters flow during the whole year forming jumps and slides, in some stretches they subside forming deep pools. The river flows between steep walls of gray or reddish rock surrounded by green forests of holm oak covered with moss and ivy.
