The tower is located in the part of the bastion facing the sea, on the southern side of the defensive curtain wall of the old town of Otranto, near the port.
Its peculiarity lies in its shape: the Torre Matta consists internally of a cylindrical tower, incorporated in a quadrangular tower, both easily visible from inside and outside. Of the original tower, the cylindrical part can be glimpsed on the outside, as it protrudes with a series of beautiful corbels decorated with motifs typical of the period.
