In the central part of Perast, on the coast, next to the church and the Square of St. Mark is a spacious palace Smekja (in the popular pronunciation "Smeca"). The Smekjas, a family that belonged to the brotherhood “Cizmai”, are known as sailors since the second half of the XVI century.
