The Old Town Ulcinj is located in the extreme south of the Montenegrin coast, situated on the slope of a larger, limestone rock that slopes obliquely towards the sea. Although the city is built on a naturally protected rock of steep cliffs, it is surrounded on all sides by powerful ramparts with towers and gates.
