The most popular promenade of Shkoder, referred to locally as Sheshi is named Kole Idromeno. It is the pedestrian street through the heart of central Shkoder, lined with lovely Ottoman-era 19th-century buildings housing not only the Marubi museum, Grand Mosque, a Orthodox church and a Catholic church in close proximity to each other on either sides of the street but also many cafes, restaurants, and shops.
The street has the name of an Albanian painter sculptor, architect, photographer, cinematographer during the Albanian Renaissance in the nineteenth century. Traditional Venetian architectural styles are prevalent in the buildings on either side of this wide street.
At every time of the day this street is lively especially in the evening and early night when it is full of people relaxing at cafes and bars; street artists are also a feature of this attractive street.
