Laghi Alimini

The Alimini Lakes are one of the most valuable natural and historical areas in Salento, with an ecosystem that houses a remarkable biodiversity.

The Alimini Grande and Alimini Piccolo Lakes are two lakes located north of the city of Otranto, in the province of Lecce. Classified as a Site of Community Importance (SCI), they constitute a true oasis of biodiversity, encompassing the surrounding pine forest and the six-kilometre-long beach, featuring thin sand, dunes, shallow waters and a clear sea.

The Lakes are an ideal destination for families and a true paradise for surfers, as they are located in an area open to all winds. Among the beaches, there is the wild and unspoilt Bay of the Turks, a place of great historical importance, where Turkish warriors landed in 1480 before attacking the city of Otranto.
