The small coastal village of Torre Canne has extraordinary natural and cultural attractions. Today it is a tourist and spa centre that owes its origins to the construction of a coastal tower located near the present-day lighthouse.
Torre Canne marks the beginning of the first and longest stretch of sandy coastline south of Bari. It is protected by coastal dunes which over the years have suffered considerable erosion. Beyond the dunes, marshy areas of brackish water dotted with ancient aquaculture systems have formed.
