The archaeological park and Illyrian city of Amantia is a living historical testimony of the Ionian coast. Built in the 5th century BC, it is one of the most interesting treasures and ruins of Albania, located on a hill, in a fantastic nature and surrounded by greenery. A few days ago, the specialists of the Vlora Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage, together with the National Institute of Heritage, carried out the archaeological rescue excavation and the documentation of two ancient tombs in the necropolis of the archaeological park. The Vlora Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage states that the works carried out during this time are a continuation of the work being done to combat clandestine excavations, while new discoveries have also been made.
"These interventions are a continuation of the work and measures taken by DRTK-Vlora and IKTK to combat the phenomenon of clandestine excavations, as well as the rescue and documentation of monuments affected by it. During this intervention, a cist grave was documented, as well as a monumental grave belonging to the c. III BC The tomb with monumental architecture is a new attraction to visit in the sightseeing itinerary of the archaeological park of Amantia."
In recent years, the archaeological park of Amantia has become one of the main tourist destinations for the region of Vlora, where the interest of local and foreign visitors to visit this archaeological park is not missing.
