Canyon del Quirino

The gorge of the Quirino Torrent is a geological site located within the area "Matese-Conca di Boiano-Sepino" and it is part of the largest SCI-ZPS protected area in the Molise region called "La Gallinola-M.
Miletto, Monti del Matese". This area of remarkable landscape and naturalistic interest is inside the WWF Oasis of Guardiaregia-Campochiaro (established in 1997). The gorge is developed for over 5 km and exceeds a height difference of over 200 m, the path is very steep and suggestive and is characterized by a beautiful sequence of waterfalls that alternate with stretches of gentle slope, features that make it one of the most popular and frequented paths of central Italy by fans of canyoning. In Coste della Defenza, the gorge enters the plain of Boiano, downstream of the town of Guardiaregia, near the chapel of Santa
Maria della Neve.
