Of the Castle of Magliano, attested in documents of XII - XIII and probably used until '600, only a tower and some other remains survive. In fact, a few kilometers from Santa Croce, in the district of Magliano, there are the remains of a cylindrical tower with the masonry at the bottom of the slope, a tower that has always been considered the symbol of Santa Croce. It is located on the top of a hill, it is surrounded by a thick vegetation and it is visible from the new road that leads to Rotello.

The historical information about the Tower of Magliano are rather scarce but it is known that the structure (probably of the thirteenth century) was built to perform military surveillance and protection of the entire surrounding area, once infested with brigands.
If we then descend into the field of legends, an ancient one speaks of a connection of it to the city center, through a secret tunnel that flows into the Quartetto, an ancient quarter of Santa Croce. It would have served as an escape route for the population of S.Croce in case of danger.
Other legends speak of treasures hidden in the surroundings of the tower.
