The 'Morge' are rock formations derived from tectonic movements in the Cenozoic era of the earth's crust, which emerged on the surface from marine environments and are therefore rich in fossils. Among the many, we can point out that of Pietracupa, around which lies the town of the municipality.

The 'Cenozoic Morge' Park includes several municipalities between the Trigno and Biferno Valleys: Pietracupa, Trivento, Salcito, Bagnoli Del Trigno, Limosano, Sant'Angelo Limosano, San Biase, Montefalcone nel Sannio, Roccavivara, Oratino and Castropignano. In Salcito there is La Morgia di Pietravalle with its artificial cavities clearly referable to an ancient rocky settlement. The Morgia di Pietra Martino is ideal for sports activities such as climbing, and for paragliding enthusiasts there is the Morgia di Montefalcone nel Sannio. The "Rocca" of Oratino, a Morgia frequented by man since the Bronze Age, is the site of archaeological finds.
