The average altitude of the area is between 1250 and 1300 meters. The Silver Fir is a particular species a bit delicate, it is widespread in different areas of the center-south of the Apennines and represents a quite rare ecological situation and of particular interest for the study of biodiversity, in fact the forest of the Soprano Firs is also a seed wood used for the reproduction of seedlings in the seedlings. The entire SCI area is not only constituted by woods, but for about 25% of the site there are prairies, bushes, shrubs where the predominant species are roses, blackthorn, hawthorn, perasters, ligusters, field maples and honeysuckles.
In the Bosco degli Abeti Soprani the anthropic activity has favored the diffusion of the Fir tree to the detriment of the Beech tree; the fir woods have therefore constituted a stable formation.
