The Corundoli Communal Wood of Montecilfone, is a hilly wood, a few kilometers from the sea, and is one of the first woods to be found between the coast and the Frentani Mountains.
The Corundoli hill is of particular geological interest for the presence of gypsum outcrops, whose solubility creates suggestive dolines and caves. The forest covers an area of 80 hectares, the prevalent tree species are the Roverella, the Cerro, the Leccio, the Carpino and the Olmo. Its position makes it an ideal habitat for some rare species, such as Orchids, the Fairy Flax (a graminaceous plant endemic to the South of Italy with a showy silver flowering, symbol of the Arbëreshë community of Montecilfone) and other shrubs such as Hawthorn, Blackthorn and Broom. Among the animal species we find the wild mouse, the hedgehog, the marten, the polecat, the roe deer, the fox, the wild boar and the wolf.
The avifauna is very large (the forest is included in a SPA of the Natura 2000 Network), there are many resident and migratory species, including: the Golden Oriole, the Maritime Jay, the Kestrel, the Sparrowhawk, the Lodolaio, the Buzzard, the Honey Buzzard, the Red Kite, the Peregrine Falcon.
