Not much is known about the origins of this place, except that it was part of the dominions of the Abbey of San Vincenzo, as is written in the Chronicon Volturnense, which a document dated 11 June 866 reports, with which Lodovico II granted the monastery of S. Vincenzo al Volturno property in the territory of Venafro.
