The Piccinni Town Theater in Bari, in Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, is the oldest theater in the capital town of Puglia and, in terms of size, the fourth Italian-style theater in Puglia, after Teatro Petruzzelli, Politeama Greco in Lecce and Teatro Verdi in San Severo.
Built following the standards of Italian-style theaters and designed by architect Antonio Nicolini, the theater was inaugurated in 1854. After a very long period during which it was closed, followed by a lengthy and delicate conservative restoration work, the theater now hosts important theatrical productions, with its playbill being much appreciated season after season by the public.
