In the heart of the ancient village of Muro Leccese, about 40 kilometres south of the Salento provincial capital, stands the Prince's Palace, built in the first half of the 16th century on the remains of a medieval castle. Over time, the palace underwent many transformations, becoming a stately home in modern times.
Today, the Prince's Palace is the seat of the municipal offices and the Borgo Terra Museum, which houses medieval artefacts and findings from the ancient Messapian city that existed between the 4th and 2nd centuries BC.
