The ruined village of Old Tragjas is a monument of cultural heritage in Tragjas, Vlora District, Vlora County and undoubtedly one of the most interesting destinations to be visited by history and architecture enthusiasts.
The ruined village of Old Tragjas and the archaeological finds around it show the existence of an inhabited center since ancient times. This settlement burned three times and was completely destroyed during the Second World War, today it is an open museum left in oblivion, a silent testimony of the past. Although it has not been inhabited for 60 years, within the boundaries of the village, its constituent elements stand out clearly: A main road that crosses the village in its entire length and the silhouette of the ruins of former dwellings. The village with 300 houses, lies on a hillside, both picturesque and strategic. The houses are placed almost next to each other and stand out for their found modeling, rationalization, good adaptation to the terrain, pronounced movement of volumes and monumentality. Each of them represents the architecture of the country and the craftsmanship of the simple people who built them.
