Looking out from one of the many viewpoints in the ancient village of Polignano a Mare, one is overwhelmed by one of the most spectacular views of the Apulian coastline.
The crystal-clear sea breaks against the high, jagged cliffs and takes refuge in secret grottoes and small inlets, as it flows, calm, into the inlet of Lama Monachile, full of smooth white pebbles. Framing this spectacle of nature, overhanging the sea, is the old town to be explored, with its white houses, churches and narrow alleys rich in sea-related traditions.
