The caves, passageways, stalactites, stalagmites and concretions with their astonishing shapes and colours in the Castellana Caves offer a stunning and unique scenario.
Discovered in 1938 by the speleologist Franco Anelli, there are two tour itineraries, both starting from the Grave cavern: a short one about 1 km long and a complete one leading to the splendid Grotta Bianca.
The section of the caves that is accessible to the public is made up of chambers that vary greatly in shape and size. The names of the places visited are the work of the imagination of the first explorers.
