Farka lake is located only 9.6 km away from the city centre in southern and south-western part of Tirana and is 75 hectare, larger than the artificial lake at Grand Park of Tirana. The artificial Lake of Farka was built in 1980s. It has a maximum length of two kilometers as well as a maximum width of 700 meters. The dam at the south is about 300 metres long. This lake now is surrounded with a very modern pedestrian street, where people can walk for miles around the lake, and enjoy its view in 360 grade. This area is distinguished for its biodiversity and the attractive hilly landscape and the nature heritage. A part of this heritage are the objects, the landscapes, the ecosystems, the special habitats, the rare relics, the endemic or the endangered species. Being so, they have a special ecological, scientific, cultural, didactic and touristic importance. Some of the activities the visitors can do include picnicking, boating, bike, sportive fishing and run.
