The Glacial circles of Monte Miletto are semicircular or semi-elliptical depressions, the result of the glacier that, advancing, digs the rock in front of it. They are dominated upstream by steep rocky walls and partially barred downstream by a threshold (Sella) from which a glacial tongue often departs. On the northern side of Colle Tamburo there are several glacial cirques, which are united by the name of "Circhi Glaciali dell'Aquilania", this area is well observable from the road that connects Cantalupo del Sannio and Roccamandolfi.
Towards West there is the Fondacone cirque (1986 m), located in correspondence of the homonymous valley, separated by the rocky spur of "Campanarielli". The glacial cirque has very steep rocky sides, the expansion limit is estimated with the finding of morainic deposits at 1200 m. The altitude, rather low, induces to think that its activity is previous to the Last Glaciation. The moraines of the three "Circles of Aquilania" are largely covered by post-glacial beech forests.
From a naturalistic point of view, the site falls within the largest protected area SIC-ZPS of the Molise region called "La Gallinola-M. Miletto-M.ti del Matese". The glacial cirque is crossed by the path 102 (Fondacone-M. Miletto) indicated in the "Carta Escursionistica dei Sentieri - Matese - Versante Settentrionale - Settore Orientale" published by CAI Molise.
