Roccapipirozzi is a hamlet of Sesto Campano and its fortress is located on the top of a hill around which the medieval village winds. During the Longobard domination the feud was owned by the counties of the Duchy of Benevento and then passed under Norman rule. At the beginning of 1300 the feud was assigned to Andrea and Nicola Rampini to whom succeeded the family of Ratta of Spanish origin hosted by the bride of Roberto d'Angiò. During this period were added to the fortress elements that better fortify it, think of the circular tower and the opening of the entrance, raised above the floor of the outer entrance.

With the arrival of Charles III of Durazzo the Ratta family lost possession of the fief.
In 1465 the fief passed to Diomede Carafa, count of Maddaloni.
In 1569 Giambattista Carafa sold the fief to Isabella of Lannoy.
The son of this last one in its turn sold it to Filippo Spinola to whose family it remained until the abolition of feudality.
The castle unlike the other fortresses of Molise was not transformed into a mansion, on the contrary was left in a state of abandonment.
The fortress despite having only a military function over the years also welcomed the population of the village that took refuge there in case of need.
