The Bay of Bristan

Bristani is a natural beach located on the western side of the Karaburun peninsula along the Ionian Sea. The bay of Bristan offers partial shelter from south and north winds and it usually has a small gravel beach while the wings are covered with green Mediterranean macchia vegetation. The bay is relatively shallow with well-developed coverage of Posidonia growing on thick mat. There is a partially exposed wooden skeleton of a medieval ship in the middle of the bay. The bottom-sea structure is gravel.

Being a rocky bay, the shore is dominated by steep, rocky cliffs that fall vertically to the sea as well as rocky and pebble beaches. It lies within the National Park Karaburun Sazan and is the perfect place for those looking for privacy. There is an abandoned military building, a small jetty and some bunkers in steep cliffs, which are separated by canyons that enter deep into the shore. In the past, the area was used as a safe shelter for ships during storms. The beach is safe for camping, but it is not recommended when the wind blows. The area is isolated and visitors should take food, water, and other supplies.
