Located 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) northeast of Kruja, National Park of Qafshtama has an area of 2000 hectares, with a beautiful mountain scenery consisting mainly of pine forests, some small lakes and major water sources. This neck connects Kruja with the Valley of Mati and in its southern part is bordered by Lake Boville. Its location is 1,100m above sea level nestled in the mountains. In 1996 the park was established as a national park and bottled drinking water of the same name is found here and is famous because it was historically delivered daily to the royal family in Tirana due to its curative properties. The park is famous for its curative water, special atmosphere, fresh air, natural beauty and the unique landscape that it offers. Hiking to the Qafshtama National Park on the highest peak- Red Mountain Peak takes 2 hours up and 1.30 hours down. This park is known under the pseudonym “The Lung of Albania”, because the territory is filled with forests and is recommended for the treatment of asthmatic and allergic diseases.
