On a dominant, difficult to access and somewhat elongated hill with a saddle pass, are the remains of the older, Illyrian town of Meteon and the later, medieval Medun. The Illyrian Meteon, as a city of the Illyrian tribe Labeati, is first mentioned by Titus Livius in connection with the last Illyrian-Roman war, in 168 BC.
