Fortress Gorazda is located on a hill that dominates the Bay of Kotor at 452 m above sea level. Due to the proximity of the former Montenegrin border (the village of Mirac) and due to its exceptional location together with the fortification complex on Vrmac, fortresses Trojica and Grabovac, it formed the "backbone" of the defense of the eastern Lovcen defense zone.
