The name comes from the word "pipe", because on the lower course the riverbed resembles a pipe. The area of the river is a natural link between the National Park "Skadar Lake" (lower part) and the National Park "Prokletije" (source part). Its basin occupies 130 km² in the geographical area between the Prokletije Mountain massif and the Zeta plain.

Termoli is a town that attracts tourists every year for its historical and naturalistic beauties and it is also a holiday resort for its equipped beaches. As for water sports the offer is wide and varied, ranging from sailing, with short boat trips to learn the maneuvers of navigation or you can take small trips to the Gargano or the Tremiti.
