Pozze sul Vandra

The river Vandra (in dialect La Vandura) is one of the longest rivers in the province of Isernia (about 30 km), it flows on mainly clayey and impermeable soils, so it has a torrential character. Starting from Villa San Michele, a small village, now abandoned, in the municipality of Vastogirardi, and then descending along the river bed, one is fascinated by the beauty of the landscape and the extraordinary clarity and transparency of the water.

Along the river we come across a series of sweet waterfalls, rocks covered with green, caves, and some suggestive puddles. The first puddle we find is in the locality "Terra Ghianca", it is surrounded by vegetation, rushes and brambles that cover the access ways from both sides. The stream continues its course through the undergrowth, until it reaches the second puddle, called "Malpass", here the water slides in a gentle waterfall, which forms a small natural amphitheater, completely immersed in the woods and surrounded by abundant vegetation, a place where it is nice to abandon oneself and meditate.
