Designed and built in the 1980, the Congress Palace was symbol of communist ideology and the power of expression of totalitarian regime. It is located in a central position on the Grand Boulevard, next to the Mother Teresa Square. Inspired by traditional buildings of Gjirokaster, Berat and northern Albanian towers the works for its construction started in 1982 and after 4 years later ended up. It is 70 meters long and 18-23 meters in height and the capacity in the main hall is of 2100 seats. During the communist regime, the ruling party hosted its congresses here. Three surrounding halls have a reduced capacity of 150, 280 and 300 seats, designed as working environments for corporate meetings, private parties and other local gatherings.
Nowadays Palace of Congresses is used to organise festivals and it is known as a venue hosting conferences, exhibitions, trade and commercial fairs, ceremonies, concerts and other events.
