The church of Santa Maria Assunta is one of the best examples of Baroque architecture in Molise, so much so that in 1926 it was declared a monument of national interest.
The work of the Neapolitan architect Ferdinando Sanfelice, author of numerous palaces and churches in Naples, it was built between 1731 and 1774.
The interior has a basilica layout with three naves and no transept, and is richly decorated with stucco work.
The building contains the most significant works of the painter Paolo Gamba, a native of Ripabottoni, and a work by his Neapolitan master Francesco Solimena.
The body of the martyr saint San Crescienzo is deposited under the central altar.
